About PMGSY
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is a flagship central government scheme launched in December 2000 with the objective of providing all-weather road connectivity to unconnected rural habitations in India.
Funding Structure
- Initial Phase (2000-2015): 100% centrally-sponsored scheme
- From 2015-16 onwards: Funding shared between Central and State governments in 60:40 ratio
- This change was implemented to ensure greater state ownership and accountability
