What is Circular Economy?
- A circular economy is a sustainable model of production and consumption that focuses on reducing waste and extending the life cycle of products through practices such as:
- Reuse
- Repair
- Refurbishment
- Remanufacturing
- Recycling
- It aims to keep materials and resources in circulation for as long as possible, creating additional value while reducing dependence on the traditional linear "take–make–consume–dispose" model.
India's Circular Economy Approach
- India integrates traditional practices of repair, reuse and resource conservation with modern strategies focused on sustainable lifestyles and efficient resource management.
- Policy Framework: Regulatory reforms, improved waste management rules, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks and digital compliance systems to enhance recycling and resource recovery.

- More than 83,000 producers registered
- 4,802 recyclers registered
- Nearly 482.24 lakh metric tonnes of regulated waste processed
- Promoting a shift from waste disposal to resource recovery.
